After graduating from the University of Guelph I spent time working as an ecologist with Conservation Authorities, evaluating the aquatic and terrestrial health of different watersheds in southern Ontario. During this time my passion for aquatic science grew and I became more interested in the terrestrial-aquatic connection and how landscape change can have widespread impacts on aquatic ecosystems. This passion and an interest in northern ecology led me to pursue graduate studies at the University of Alberta with the Tank lab. My research focuses on how permafrost thaw impacts the biogeochemistry of subarctic streams. I aim to assess how organic carbon and nutrients are actively processed as they travel from headwaters to deposition sites downstream and determine the degree to which they are available for uptake and degradation by biological organisms.

Outside of my research I enjoy hiking, backcountry camping, horseback riding and crochet.
