Department of Biological Sciences, University of Alberta MSc University of Alberta BSc Western University Email: [email protected] I was first involved in Northern research during my undergraduate thesis, where I explored spatial and temporal patterns in organic matter related to permafrost thaw in the Old Crow Flats, Yukon. This experience led me to work with Suzanne Tank for my MSc, during which I experimentally evaluated interactions between mineral-rich permafrost sediments and organic matter in northwestern Canada. As I completed my MSc, I realized I had many more questions than answers and was inspired to continue working with Suzanne for my doctoral studies. My PhD research will investigate how variation in permafrost features impacts the response of aquatic ecosystems to thaw. I'm looking forward to spending more time in the North and working with Northerners to understand their changing landscapes. In my spare time, I enjoy playing sports, baking (for friends!), and doing anything outdoors. Check out my website to learn more about my experiences (and see some cool field pictures)! |
